AVOIDING PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism : An act of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

  • Copying words ideas from someone else without giving credit
  • Turning in someone else's work as your own
  • Failing to put a quotation in quotation marks
  • Giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
  • Changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit
  • Copying so many words or ideas from a source
PREVENTING PLAGIARISM

PLANNING YOUR PAPER
1. Consult Your Instructor
    - If you have doubts or questions about something, you should ask your instructor / lecturer
2. Plan Your Paper
You plan how you are doing to include other sources of information in your paper
There must be a balance between the ideas taken from other sources and your own ideas
3. Take Effective Notes
    - Organize the information that you have found by taking though notes of all sources before
      you start writing.
    - To avoid confusion about sources, try using different colored fonts, pens or pencils for
      each one.

WRITING YOUR PAPER
1. Cite Resources
    - When quoting a source, use the quote exactly the way it appears. If the quotation is
relatively short (usually fewer than 3 lines or 40 words), those word must be enclosed in
      quotation marks.
2. Make It Clear Who Said That
    - If you are discussing the ideas of more than one person, be careful with confusing
pronouns. Always make sure to differentiate who said what, and give credit to the right
      person.
3. Know How To Paraphrase
    - To paraphrase, you must change both the words and the sentence structure of the
      original, without changing the content.
4. Include a Reference Page
    - One of the most important ways to avoid plagiarism is referencing. Include a reference
page or page of works cited at the end of your paper. Check guidelines for citing sources
      properly.

CALCULATING GRADE POINT AVERAGE

The final examination results and assessments at the end of every semester are assigned as Grade Point Average (GPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) which represent student's academic achievement.

GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA)

Every semester, students receive a GPA based on the grades they earned in all their courses during that semester.

CUMULATIVE GRADE POINT AVERAGE (CGPA)

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) refers to the overall GPA, which includes dividing the number of quality points earned in all courses attempted by the total credit hours in all attempted courses.

THE END
 THANK YOU GUYS !
